Mack is a collection of servos, fiberglass, epoxy, fake fur, latex, and aluminum
roughly arranged in the form of a mounted moose head.
Mack has six axes of motion:
- eyebrows
- mouth
- eyes left & right
- eyes up & down
- neck left & right
- eyelids
There's also a speaker in his mouth for all the witty things he has to say.
Each moving part is controlled by an RC servo, which in turn is driven by an RC transmitter.
The controller is a (now discontinued) Effective Engineering M5. It allowed you to
record audio and moves on standard audio (cassette, CD), and play it back. The voice
track was recorded, and then played back while a friend (Paul Hahn, Mack's voice) and I puppeteered,
recording through the M5 onto an audio track.
